Dr. Osuni Roque

Meet Dr. Roque

I'm Osuni.

I believe therapy is a place to be found, not fixed.

Whether this is your first time in therapy, you're returning after an experience that didn't feel like the right fit, or you've simply reached a point where something needs to change, you don't have to have it all figured out before you begin. Therapy starts exactly where you are, and we'll move forward together from there.

My name is Osuni Roque, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Miami specializing in trauma. When most people hear the word “trauma,” they think of PTSD, but trauma is much broader than that. Trauma occurs when our brain encounters experiences too overwhelming to adaptively process, and many of us are carrying the weight of significant life events that have quietly shaped who we are today. My work is about helping you understand yourself more deeply and creating a safe space to revisit and reprocess those experiences, on your own terms.

My approach is collaborative, flexible, and client-paced. I prioritize nervous system safety above all else, which means we move at the pace your nervous system needs, not a predetermined timeline. Before we ever approach the harder material, we focus on building the coping skills and internal resources that make that work sustainable.

One thing I carry into every session is this: I don't know your life better than you do. I may bring education, clinical perspective, and support, but you are the expert on your own experiences. My role is to walk alongside you, not ahead of you.

Beyond the Therapy Room

Beyond my clinical work, I am a wife and mother of two daughters, and that role has shaped me just as much as my training has. Parenting has given me a firsthand understanding of how difficult it is to show up fully for our children while carrying our own unhealed wounds. I have had moments where my own past showed up unexpectedly too. I have had to do my own work. And because of that, I don't sit across from my clients as someone who has it all figured out; I sit with them as a fellow human being who deeply understands what it means to grow through hard things.

That personal work led me to EMDR therapy, first as a client, then as a clinician. Experiencing EMDR for my own experiences showed me just how powerful and transformative this work can be. When I began my formal EMDR training, I knew immediately that this was the approach I was meant to practice. It has made me a better clinician, because I am not only hearing what clients share in the present, but I am attuned to the patterns rooted in the past and how they continue to quietly show up in everyday life. Guiding clients toward seeing the value and worth in themselves that I already see in them is, without question, one of the greatest honors of my life.

My Christian faith is also a deeply personal part of who I am. It grounds me, gives me peace, and gives my work meaning. While I practice in a way that is welcoming to everyone, if faith is important to you and you would like to incorporate it into our work together, we can absolutely do that. When I am not in session, you can find me watching a great show or movie, traveling with my family, or planning our next Disney trip. Every Sunday, I volunteer and serve at my church; it is my weekly ritual of grounding and self-care. Worship music anchors me in a way that is hard to put into words.

I share all of this because I want you to know that I am a real person who shows up to this work with my whole self, and I will always hold space for you to do the same.
